Yes,You can go to sikkim in December if you are a winter lover.In December you can get snowfall easily.But the road to Nathula pass can be closed anytime if heavy snowfall occurs.I visited the sikkim in April, even at that time Nathula pass was closed.But i got lucky Because the day i was going to tsongmo lake,Army opened theNathula pass for tourists. If you are going to Sikkim,Must visit to north sikkim(Lachen,Gurudongmar lake,Lachung);It is untouched heaven on earth. You can see the pics on my tripoto profile..

It is surely a good time for Nathula . It will be snowing and it also depends on safety concerns of Border security . So cannot know before hand when they will cancel allowing of tourists.

Hi, Sikkim turns into heaven in the month of December and if you got lucky you can even enjoy good snowfall during that time. The weather is extremely cold especially at night. So always carry good and warm clothes. Due to snowfall at higher ends it remains closed for people and only cleared for army when required. Therefore you cannot visit Nathula Pass and Zuluk (14,140 ft) in December. However, there are some other places that you must visit such as in North Sikkim (Lachen, Gurudongmar lake, Lachung). It is an untouched heaven on earth. Plan your trip to Sikkim with the help of following itinerary.

I would suggest you should go earlier since in December many places would be shut.. Moreover, there would not be the beautiful flowers you would otherwise find.

Winter (December to February) is extreme in Gangtok and it can be very cold out there particularly early in the mornings and at nights. ... Although snowfall in Gangtok town itself is not common, the routes to high altitude places from Gangtok like Tsomgo lake and Nathula Pass often get closed due to heavy snow.
