If you are a winter lover then You can go.At that time there will be very harsh cold, and heavy snowfalls. If You Dnt get cranky bcz of cold then You can go. And the roads to Nubra valley and lake may remain closed or open depending on the snowfall. But If you are a mountain trekker, then Jan-Feb is the time when chadar trek opens in leh.Acc to me If you are going to Leh in this time;Go for chadar trek. And you cannt go Leh by road this time;you have to go by flight only. But the Ticket cost by flight is less than by road;if you book your flight ticket for the Jan-feb now.

Hey, Ladakh is best visited from May to mid-October when Leh-Manali highway and Srinagar-Leh highway are open and good to go. From November to April, the national highways and high altitude passes remains closed due to heavy snowfall. Planning to go Ladakh during New Year? you can still go there but via flights. But due to poor weather conditions during Winter season the flights services also remains affected. The weather during the day is sunny but it can go below 0. the nights are usually very cold.

Ladakh will be great in New year if you are ready to withstand cold. You will experience a winter wonderland. It will be less busy so local guides will have a lot of time to show you around. Just be careful and prepare for the cold with multiple layers. It might be difficult for kids and senior citizens, but with moderate fitness you can experience Ladakh like no other time. Also this is a very good time for wildlife sighting as they come down from the mountains.
