Hello amritaparna, Well o would tell you an idiom as says action speaks louder than words. Whether you be in any part of the world when it comes to communication there are 2 things: 1.english because as an official language mostly people are familiar to it. 2. Your actions can helo you too as in the medieval period when people were not able to communicate through words, action was the only way. I guess this can help you. Enjoy travelling!!!

Hey Amritaparna, The best way to communicate would be using your mobile phone ... When I had been to Italy, I had few pictures downloaded for me ... like if I was in search of a road to colosseum I would show that picture to a person waiting for bus, he helped to take the bus which goes to the place I wanted to ... that's the best way possible ... Stat to communicate with English first .. if that doesn't work better, then this way of showing pictures would help you ... Success rate would be atleast 80% as per my experience ... This helps mainly while ordering food on streets ... showing a pic of a bread toast or a burger will be easy to order your food ... Hope this will work for sure ... Happy Travelling!!!

The people there are not that used to gadgets might be ... guess you have to have a different method altogether to deal with them ... you can share with us like how u managed also ... between which country are you travelling now ? as u have this query
You must use incomprehensible signs to ensure they can guess what you want. You can achieve this magical feat by waving your arms, saying words in English, pointing at objects and drawing pictures to allow the person to understand your rather complicated objectives. Good Luck!!!

1- before traveling make a notes of some common( that are used in basic life) sentence and translate into these sentences into the foreign language where your are going to travel. 2- be calm and try to interact with someone who is looking little bit helpful / happy at that time 3 - use English when you have no other option ENJOY,!

No matter how actions show eloquently what we want to say, nothing can replace live speech. When traveling, an interpreter has become a real salvation for me, especially when you get into a country and do not know the local language. The online translator https://www.translate.com/ always helped me in communicating with the locals and translated the necessary phrases. I like the free version that I use. The service also offers professional translation, which I always use when I need to translate a large text. The translator supports many languages, so for travel it has become an indispensable tool for me.
