Cheapest way is take a train from patna to Raxaul. Then cross the border and reach Birgunj. From Birgunj you can get many vehicles to Kathmandu.

Hey Arpit, Nepal can en visited through road and this is the cheapest possible way to reach Kathmandu ... Route :- Take a 15003 Chauri chaura express from Varanasi to Gorakhpur and this is an overnight train ... From Gorakhpur railway station take a 3 hrs bus ride to border town Sunauli on the indian side ... Now to cross the border near Sunauli, you dont need a passport ... so don't worry ... But keep government issued ID card ... Before crossing the border on the right side you have an indian immigration office and get a Departure stamp and then after crossing border get an arrival stamp to Nepal and from there a night bus to pokhra or Kathmandu is easily available ... So, after reaching Kathmandu just stroll around and the place is really cheap to roam around ... don't worry ... Check for below blogs to plan your itinerary affront:-
