Its the peak season for goa, pre book your accomodations. bike hire can be done once you have reached there. if planning to stay in north goa, would suggest to book cottages and villas at vagator beach or arambol beach. you will find pretty good deal.
avoid staying at baga or calangute beach, these are too much crowded places.
