Hey Ragesh, From delhi it's better for you to board a sleeper bus and reach Amritsar by 7 in the morning .... From bus stand you need to get an auto for 75 rupees fare till golden temple ... Get a bath in the temple premises nd then Visit Golden temple. You can finish the langar and Visit to the temple by 11.30 a.m ... after this head to Jallianwallabagh complex right next to golden temple .... A historical site which shouldn't be missed on your visit ... You can spend 2 hrs dre and then you can go to Wagah border ... There are many buses which ply from amritsar bus stand to Attari village and from there you have to hire a cycle rickshaw or a normal auto to reach the entrance point .... The ceremony starts at 5.00 in the evening and is an almost one hour activity and a very overwhelming experience you can have in your life .... You can get back to Amritsar by 9 in the night and stay in Amritsar or you can easily take a return night bus to Delhi .... This is how I visited Amritsar and it's easily doable in a day ... Happy Travelling Bro!!!
I will share my experience with you..
I took train to amritsar for early morning. After reaching i first covered golden temple and had my brunch at golden temple langar. Next i covered jallianwala bagh which is just next to golden temple.
By afternoon 3 o clock we started to wagah border to reach before 4 o clock to see the procession which takes place at 5 o clock.
As the procession got completed by 6 o clock. We took back taxi to amritsar and had our dinner. After checking out from hotel at night we took our train and returned back to delhi.
So all over it was one day trip.
Hello. Amritsar is an overnight journey away from Delhi. Yes it’s a good idea to cover golden temple and waha border. And yeah you cover it in a day or two. I have visited Amritsar in last year. And you can check my blog on Amritsar trip
I have travelled few times from amritsar to delhi by car it wll be a long journey though but scenic as roads are well built. Two to three days is must for visiting Wagah border and golden temple too as Wagah will take your half day and will make you tired then golden temple is such a peaceful place in the evening that you dont want to leave soon from there. Do take the prasad, best in there inside the golden shrine. I would also suggest you ask some locals there for the famous jalebi shop behind golden temple in the back alleys do not miss that.
Hey Ragesh, Take a train from Delhi to Amritsar. From the railway station of Amritsar, you can take a rickshaw to Golden temple. Take a hotel room near temple as per your priority or you can prebook with OYO or MMT. For cheap accommodation, you can also stay in Gurudwara. Both Golden temple and Jallianwalla Bagh are near to each other so you have no need to book any taxi. For Wagah border, sharing vehicles go in morning and evening. You can book it from the office near to the temple. You need one full day to cover Amritsar. Don't miss Langar. Happy travelling!!!!!!!!
That's absolutely the perfect time to visit Amritsar. You can either take a train or a Volvo from delhi depending on your requirement. There are loads of hotels..around the golden temple and its better you stay in one of them. wagah border is a must visit place in amritsar..please note that you must reach there before time in order to get the front seats. Amritsar is hub to loads of amazing food joints. The most famous ones being bhrawan da dhaba and kesar dhaba. Happy travelling!!
