Of all the places you visit, I would recommend you to do 'Ahmedabad Heritage walk'. The walks are arranged by 'Akshar Travels'. It costs only Rs. 200 per person. There is morning as well as evening Heritage walk. you can chose any. They will show you all the important places in Old city from Mandir to Masjid and all the bazaars and old houses. It's 2-3 hours journey on foot through this historic city and it's worth every penny. Highly recommended.

If you are ok to travel for 1-2 hours from Ahmedabad, would highly recommend Rani ki Vav in Patan and Sun Temple Modhera. trust me you wont regret, these places are unique and very very beautiful. Otherwise in local you can visit Sabarmati Ashram, Jama Masjid, Adalaj ki vav. For food, I would recommend Agashiye Restaurant. Good luck.
