I am travelling from India to Vietnam via Bangkok and have flight of different airlines from Bangkok and I need to do a self transfer at the Bangkok airport. So is the transit Visa needed?

Only if you have to go to another airport to board the flight, you would need a transit visa. As long as you are inside the same airport, you do not need a transit visa.
