Other than the usual Shimla, Manali, you can explore the Dharmshala side which includes, Bir, Kangra Valleya and Dalhousie. If not you can go the other side towards Thirthan and explore the entire valley.

You may fly to Jammu or Amritsar and from there go by road to Dalhousie, spend a night at Khajjiar and then proceed to Dharamshala / McLeodgunj and Bir Billing for, in return you can cover Golden Temple at Amritsar and take a flight from there. If interested in visiting temples, there are Shakti-Peeths (5 in number, not too far from Dharamshala.
