Solo would be great. Stay in hostels(zostel or Lavie) You get more solo travellers there, ask them to join and travel together.

I would suggest you to go with a group of 3 (all friends) not with any community. It's gonna be amazing.

Group. You will really have to try to not get bored during the treks. We carried portable speaker for the trekking and it was fun. Also the late night jamming session and campfire is something I would recommend everyone to experience. Check my blog on Gokarna for detailed info
