It depends on your budget... though homestays give you the best experience in Bali... you can find a lot of them on Airbnb

I believe Bali has some of the most magnificent resorts so if you are planning for a rejuvenating experience you should have a stay in resort. Above all it depends upon your choice.

We just travelled to Bali this Feb I would suggest Hotel Inn Baruna Resort at Kuta. And in Ubud go for private pool villa Alam Pusi. We didn't stay there as booking got cancelled but it's the best one check online.
