Hi Harjot, While there have been a few landslides recently, the highway is still open and its recommended to be cautious and keep tabs on the weather. Reaching Leh via Srinagar and returning via Manali is a very good option as the traffic through this route will be less, and so will be the number of tourists.

Hi. goodluck first of all.
since august and September are monsoon time. there is a probability of having very much rains and as we all know more rains more are the chances of landslides. Though currently it is open and you can go for it. Manali - Leh is difficult and more adventurous than Srinagar - Leh. but on the other hand Srinagar route is more easy going and kind of perfect road trip. so you can choose either adventurous or easy going beautiful.
