If you're traveling solo, then travelling by train is great option as it will be on a budget. Direct trains go to Jaisalmer , Jaipur , Udaipur , Ajmer and jodhpur from Mumbai. Its the cheapest and best option.

I think you should reach Jodhpur by train and then take bike on rent it will be best thing u can do

Better travel by railways only as they are more comfortable, internal in Rajastan you may travel by local transports. Rajasthan is tourist hub so it will cost you bomb if you hire a cab.

From Mumbai to Rajasthan destination Train as it is fast and cheap option. Then within Rajastha Train or State Transport Buses.

Hey, you can take direct flight from Mumbai and accordingly then can travel by bus or cab according to the places u want to explore.
