It depends from where you are. search for the local treks nearby. Don't directly jump towards famous himalayan treks. If you are from Maharashtra then you can try Sinhgad Fort ,Lohgad Fort , Koraigad Trek. ,Rajmachi Trek

Kheerganga is one of the easiest trek. It takes around 3 -4 hours. Start from it.. It was my first trek as well.

As a beginner try going somewhere nearby where you stay. Look for groups organizing treks and join them rather than going alone initially. Once you get sufficient experience, you can look for going on longer treks.

Depends where you are located. Kalsubai, Harischandragad, Singhgad are few good treks if you are located in Maharashtra region. Nagtibba, Bhadraj, Triund, Deoria Taal, Chandrashila are a few good treks in the Himachal and Uttarakhand regions. Join trek clubs in meetup.com .. check for Climbon Adventure Club they are pretty good in coordinating and giving a fun and adventurous experience
