We had done a similar round trip in December. Our start and drop was Bangalore, We drove to Mysore, spent 3 nights there and then drove up to Ooty, spent 3 nights there and then drove back to Bangalore, as our train was at 8PM from Bangalore. From Bangalore to Mysore we stopped for brunch at Kamat, musn't miss it, their Dosas and idlis are special and one should not miss it. In Mysore visit Brindavan Gardens, Chamundi Devi temple, Mysore Palace. If you have time visit some other palaces. In Ooty take the Toy Train journey to Coonoor, but book your tickets in advance. Other places are Rose Garden, Ooty lake, Tea Factory etc.

You can start your trip from Bangalore itself. You can then visit Mysore. It is more of a historical place. Do visit the Mysore palace. Then, you may visit Ooty. It's a beautiful place, do take the toy train. You may also add Coorg in your trip. You may enjoy the local wine there. And do visit the wildlife park that comes enroute Ooty on the border of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
