Hello, Its a 6 hrs journey aprox. and you will find buses after every 60mins from kashmiri gate bus stand (better to travel in night u will reach in the morning and have a full day to explore) . Its easy to find backpackers hostels in Rishikesh and also its good to stay in one if you are in a group of 3 it gives an option of clean Dorms, its cheap and friendly, they are mostly around the ghats .For activities its good to take a dip in the river Ganga at some safe point and then u can go for rafting which is also cheap ( in Rs 300 i did) . Attending the Aarti on ghats in the evening and siting on the banks of the river ganga and enjoying the local food in different cafes around ram jhula will be enough for day one. Next day morning if you people are morning person will find colleagues for morning yoga session at the roof tops (in most of the backpackers hostels) after that get a nice breakfast and get ready to see the "beatles Ashram" and bungee jumping is also an option for day-2.If you ask me its best to find a peaceful place somewhere at the ghats read a book or just chill and feel the flow of fresh Ganga river. i have been to Rishikesh 3 times and i stayed in Hosteller Rishikesh, never stayed in camps i find these hostels much more happening then camping sites.

Well, Take a night bus to Rishikesh and be there by morning. Go to Tapovan and spend some morning time at lakshman jhula. There you will so many travel agencies for camping and other sports activity. Inquire them with the camping and activities. Negotiate the price, they can ask too much at first but will settle down in decent price,like 900-1000 for one day camping including evening snack, dinner, next day breakfast and then the rafting, all included. Make sure you attend the Ganga Aarti at triveni ghat at evening, confirm the timing of Aarti with locals. Go to Neer waterfall and enjoy the bath in pool formed by the falls there. Hope it helps

Its not possible to fully explore Rishikesh in just 2 days ! Sorry but it isn't. But you may visit a few key locations like Lakshman jhula (aarti and scenic view of ganga), Go to neer waterfall, do rafting etc.
You guys may take camps as they are safe for women in Rishikesh or take a hotel around tapovan area. Taking scooties on rent would be a great money saver and will give you chance to explore more places. (Need to have Driving licenses-but 2 scooties each being 350-500/day would cost you way lesser than taxies)
