In India, April means summer. In Order to escape from hot,better to visit cool places like coorg,darjeeling,shillong,Uttarakhand,Gangtok,shimla,Manali,ooty.

April is the perfect month to visit Uttrakhand and Himachal as the weather is not too cold but pleasant.
Also a good time to visit the North East of india

Hey Poornima, Visit Himalayas in the month April. Have you been to Kasar in Uttrakhand? Try visiting this off beat place this April. As fas as I have experienced, South India remains warmer during this time, hills turn brown and you won't get to experience the real beauty of South India. However you can visit South India in the months of Aug-Nov to see the magic of nature just after the Monsoons. :)
