Yes, it is. Monsoon ends during October and the place gets a little bit cooler. However, if you want to experience a full winter, hold on till Mi-Nov-Jan.

Yes.But instead of Darjeeling go to gangtok;it is way more beautiful than darjelling .It take same time either you go to Darjelling or Gangtok from New Jalpaiguri.You can compare the pictures of both on my post on tripoto..

Hi Shantanu, October is a great time to visit Darjeeling as it marks the end of monsoon. There may be occasional rainfall, but nothing that would hinder outdoor activities. There will most probably be a nip in the air, so make sure you carry a light sweater. October is also peak season as most tourists flock to Darjeeling around this period due to favourable weather conditions. Winter begins in full swing during mid-November.
