Hampta Pass is not an easy trek. But it is definitely a popular one. Shepherds can be found grazing the meadows that fall on the way, but you cannot rely on their availability to figure out the trail. If you are a seasoned trekker, who has done plenty high-altitude treks and have sufficient equipment and maps to mark the trail, then maybe you can attempt Hampta without any guide. But it is always suggested to take a guide along.

Hi Aditi, Hampta Pass is an easy-moderate difficulty trek. I have been there last year an thoroughly enjoyed it. However, it is not advisable to go there without a guide as there is a possibility that you might loose track in between an d land in trouble especially without any means of communication. I would recommend Indiahikes as they are the best in business. The arrangements are nearly perfect. Here is my blog on my Hampta Pass adventures: https://www.tripoto.com/trip/how-i-won-a-trek-to-hampta-pass-a-stunning-crossover-trek-in-the-himalayas-tripoto-indiahikes-5c11214b4bb5c

Hi Aditi, Would like to share its not an easy trek. If you are a regular trekker then its ok but otherwise guides are recommended.

You can go till Hampta pass and return back without the help of a guide, it is pretty easy till Balu ka Ghera with proper trails and open land. But after that there is steep climb and there are some places that might require guide's help. Moreover going with a guide helps to easily have food and caming and enjoying the nature without thinking too much about the hustle. But if you want to feel raw and real adventure and you are up for challanges then it is doable without guide too. I would recommend going in a group in that case
