Yes its less crowded but if you want ot go from srinagar then it is not possible.

Leh is one place which can be visited any time of the year but make sure you are adequately packed for the cold. The crowds will be thin so you can explore at your own pace. Do check out sangam, the confluence of the zanskar and Indus rivers. Looks magical with snow around.

April is too cold to explore there.. is that ok to you then you can definitely go there. but please take necessary kits like cloths jackets thermal wear gumboots etc

Yes but the weather is better towards june july.. i had visited last year in July end...the chances of having less tourist is towards august
