Hi Nancy! well, If you like to enjoy romantic rain in the mountains, then July is perfect time to visit dharamshala. You can witness Hills at their greenest and Waterfalls at their fullest. Otheriwse, march to Mid-july is considered to be the best time to visit Dharamshala due to scenic trails and fully blossomed flowers in the valley, without rains or freezing snow.

There might be chances that heavy rainfall might happen, which sometimes also result into Landslides. But it is not dangerous if you're cautious on few things such as Avoiding driving while raining or after sunset. Carrying Rain wear with boots with good grip.
Nancy it would be awesome .. because rain would be thr .. but i would suggest better to stay at Mclodeganj which is just 10 km approx from dharamshala and you will get awesome place to visit thr ..

Best time to visit Dharamshala

Dharmasthala is generally flocked by tourists all round the year; however, the best time to visit is during the months of November to January. The temperature range is moderate and in comparison to northern India, the weather is very pleasing. Avoid Summer (May to June) and Monsoon (July to September), as the region is scorching and humid making it unbearable for sightseeing or other outdoor activities.
