It is definitely worth staying in Cherrapunji, the locals are very amiable, the place is like a breath of fresh air, and there are two good hotels and a lot of homestay. There is a lot to explore in and around Cherrapunji. Whereas, Shillong though beautiful and culturally different would once gain be similar to the city life.

I think its better to stay in shillong, bcoz its hard to get rooms in cherrapunji n prices r unpredictable n we rarely get variety shops there so in case u need any stuff...its hard to get
