Yes, it is fine time for snow lovers. It is not the peak time of tourism so, you would not have to worry about the budget. Beside all, you can witness the mesmerizing view of snow covered mountains. So, go for it.
Visiting kasol at any time is fine..if you are comfortable with damn cold conditions it will be an amazing experience visiting kasol in the month of January.. kasol is one of the top hippie place in India.. there are lot of home stays are available for budget travelers. try to stay there for couple of days or you can choose hostel like "zostel","the hostellor" if you are a solo traveler. all thrilling adventure treks are starts from kasol. from kasol you can trek to kheer ganga, malana, Tosh village etc..
Winter in kasol (October to February):
Owing to the extremely chilly weather, Winter is least recommend for a trip to Kasol. Most roads leading to Kasol are blocked and the temperatures at this time of the year are freezing cold. Also, many of the places in Kasol are inaccessible during these winter months. It is the best season to visit Kasol as the weather in October and November is pleasant and not too cold. Tourists can enjoy village walks and spend time with their group in riverside cafes. Kasol weather in January, especially during snowfall in Kasol, dips below zero. Since the temperature in winters falls below 0 Degree Celsius, some good heavy woolens are recommended as the nights get colder and can go below -4 Degrees Celsius during this time. Moreover, there are times of continuous snowfall in some parts of the district.
