I went there, last year at Jan. And it was hell freezing there. There was heavy snowfall. But the snow adds to the beauty of Manali. If you can bear the cold, then it is definitely worth visiting. Regards!

If you are a winter person and love snow, Manali would be almost like heaven to you. Its the peak of winters and everything is covered in snow during that time. You can also indulge in adventure activities in skiing and winter bike rides. I'm also attaching with this message a post that will give you a glimpse of snow covered Manali

Manali looks beautiful in January as you will enjoy snow during January. if you are lucky, you may see snowfall as well. disclaimer- roads get stuck due to snowfall and you may get stuck on roads. But if you enjoy the journey anyways, it will be the perfect vacay.

I can say, visiting Manali during January has its own pros and cons. The pros are definitely lots and lots of snow. But this comes with a package, you'll have to survive really cold nights especially if you're someone from the plains. Also the never ending traffic jams due to snowfall. You'll be greeted with splendid sights of the snowcapped mountains and the buildings of Manali topped with snow. But also be careful on walking as snow can be quite slippery. Major attractions at Manali like Solang Valley and Rohtang Pass are closed during showtime and January. So keep yourself contented with visiting the city and nearby Parvati Valley. River rafting will be tough given the less amount of water in Beas at the time. But you can get on mountain trekking if you've got an adventurous side and want to explore and feel pure snow. There are many groups and agencies in tripto and social media that conduct snow treks. My personal suggestion would be Saurkundi Snow trek. Even I had visited Manali in January. You can check my blog if you'd like :) https://www.tripoto.com/trip/saurkundi-snow-trek-among-the-unexplored-trekking-trails-near-manali-5c5bd8c918c98?ref=mobwapp&source=awp

I would say 'first fortnight of March' would be absolutely stunning to visit Manali and kullu. by that time the local temperatures would be around 5-10°C and Solong valley would be open if u wish to play with snow.. but if u want apples 🍎🍎u should visit in the months of September-november!!
