Try going to places with more local options available like public transport and local food shops. This includes Rishikesh, Shimla, Manali, Mussoorie. And book hostels for your stays, it will be easy on your wallet.

Start planning trip atleast 6 month before with budget. Reduce daily expanses for this 6 month to meet the trip budget.
