Hey, A trip to Rishikesh can be as short as 2-3 days, but to get a comprehensive experience, it's recommended to stay for at least 4-5 days. This will give you enough time to visit the city's temples and ashrams, experience the Ganges river and its ghats, go for river rafting, bungee jumping and other adventure activities, and explore the surrounding areas such as the Rajaji National Park and the Beatles Ashram etc.

For a relaxed trip, I would say 3 to 4 days. if you want to go adventure sports keep a day extra. Rishikesh is worth between December to March. April is too hot.
