I will suggest to hire a cab and go on your own. You can choose the option of homestays instead of Hotels. You will surely have a local experience.

U can hire a vehicle based on the number of seats required and fix a round trip starting from Bangalore. Most of the temple towns offer decent accommodations at a very subsidized rates.
