Hi, You should be looking for long term houses in Old Manali and not Manali. Old Manali is slightly higher up than Manali, and I am suggesting it for the following reasons - 1. You will find more travellers like yourself living there for long term
2. It is reasonably priced compared to Manali. Manali has become a tourist hotspot, while Old Manali is still better off as of now 3. You have a higher chance of finding an old himachali house in old Manali with a great view of the snow capped mountains instead of moving directly into a house, I would suggest that you move to a homestay on old Manali for a week or so and spend this time connecting with people there and looking for houses that are up for rent. this is how I found my house back in Nov. All the best!
