Nope it can't be done. If you're a group of at least 5-7 people then you can plan the itinerary as its a big trek. 14-17 kms on your own is hard in this trail. You also need to take a halt in between and if supplies runs out, you need help.

Yes you can but you have to take a guide from the local gorkha union. It's mandatory. Better if you plan your trip with your friends and then take a guide to share the cost.
