The best time to visit Meghalaya is October to early April. You can visit the Don Bosco Museum, Wular Lake and the famous market, Police Bazaar in primary. Its better you plan your trip in before hand . Next you can visit Dawki River, Mawlynnong Living Root, Elephant Falls, Cherapunjee, Seven Sister dalla and many more. Hi Khushi, North and East Khasi hill regions are beautiful and host some very offbeat places. I would recommend keeping caving as one of your major activities. And on the top of your list should be exploring the LONGEST SANDSTONE CAVE IN THE WORLD. Since you mentioned "explore" in your post, this will be the ideal experience for you. The cave is close to 25 kms long and you can camp there in and around the cave. There is another River Cave in Meghalaya called Krem Dam which not many people know about except the locals.
