For a peaceful stay, consider guesthouses along quieter ghats like Shivala or Mansarovar. The best time to visit with fewer crowds is during the monsoon (July-August) or just before winter (late August-September). Avoid peak festival seasons like Dev Deepawali and Kartik Purnima.
