14 days is a long time - if you are travelling to go on an international trip, my suggestion would be Thailand, Cambodia,Veitnam. Should be budget friendly too this trip. If you are travelling within India then the option could be Southern India (Ooty,Mysore,Coorg,Allepey,Thekkadi. etc) or North-East India (Gangtok,Darjeeling,Guwahati.etc).

You have 14 days in hand so i suggest you to go to Rajasthan, if you haven't been there already. you can go to jaisalmer, jodhpur, udaipur and ajmer, jaipur and bikaner(if you want to). jaisalmer is farthest so i think you should start from there and end your 14 day trip in jaipur as its the closest to delhi covering the other destinations mentioned above in between them.

What would you prefer? mountains, plains...maybe desert or beaches.

Well i like mountains and architecture alot
Dear I asked you so because there are so many places and you just can't cover in 14 days, right? Even though you can do Chandigarh, Kasauli, Shimla & Manali or Jaipur, Ajmer, Pushkar, Udaipur & Mt. Abu.
Go to Himachal or uttrakhand, if you have 2 weeks please go for long treks.

14days will be good time to complete any trip.. I would like to suggest you, don't go for mountains. Monsoons will come over. you can go for Andaman. Temperature will little bit high but you can go for Andaman. You can try scuba diving over there. if you make a plan for Andaman, then definitely stay at Havelock for 2days..
