To be honest...either of them should be fine.Mauritius may work out to be a little expensive than Sri Lanka (depends on the number of days you are planning because the direct flights to Mauritius are from Air Mauritius only and they run on selected days of a week only).
Mauritius has 3 main sightseeing tours:-
1)Ile Aux Cerf tour-for watersports, waterfall,para sailing.etc.
2)North Island Tour - which is more for shopping. They take you to a Jumbo Mall in Port Louis.
3)South Island tour - This is fine as they take you to a church where several bollywood movies have been shot, a shopping center, stone ornament factory.etc. Sri Lanka on the other hand should work out to be more pocket friendly.Nuwara Ilea is a beautiful hill station and a must to go.You would get to see the famous tea gardens. In colombo you can visit the cricket stadium, noritek crockery shops for shopping. Also,if you are religious you can visit the temple where they have the footsteps of Lord Hanuman.
The islands in Sri Lanka are equally good. If you are willing to spend a little more, would suggest to plan a trip to Maldieves as that is better than both these destinations.
In February, I would suggest you to visit Sri Lanka. The weather during February-April will be pleasant to enjoy your vacation. You can plan your trip to Sri Lanka using the below travel guide.
Hi there, I visited Sri Lanka just a few months back with my family and it was just amazing! During our stay one of the locations we visited was Weligama as we had heard many good reviews about the area. We opted to stay at this luxury beach resort called Cape Weligama where they warmly welcomed us in the true Sri Lankan way. We chose to stay at the Ocean Grand Villa which was overlooking the grand Indian Ocean with a large verandah. It was the perfect weather to take a walk along the golden costal of Weligama with the waves hitting your feet. This resort is perfect for a couple or even a family outing. You could check them out on: http://www.resplendentceylon.com/capeweligama/
Hope this helped!
