The beautiful meadows of Gulmarg, usually lush green during April and early May are enveloped in a sheet of white snow during the snowfall in Kashmir. The best time to visit Gulmarg for Snowfall is just after peak winter – January and February. The road status will depend on the amount of snow during the month.
With temperatures ranging between 1 degree Celsius and 12 degree Celsius, winters are snowy in Pahalgam. The first snow of the season falls at the end of October and goes on till January.

Hey! Snow should be sufficient in January that side and yes, Pahalgam may also be having snow then. Road blocks are likely if the snowfall is heavy. For example, last January (early - around new year) there were minor road blocks between Gulmarg and Srinagar. You will hence need to keep a flexible plan, just in case! Winters are always unpredictable :)
