Hai, I suggest you to got to Shillong on Christmas and cover many parts of the beautiful Meghalaya in December. As it is Winter you can avoid the heavy rainfall and also enjoy the serenity of Meghalaya in a cool, pleasant weather. If you are looking for parties either go to Goa or Himachal Pradesh.

I was at kerala during Christmas and NYE last year. Instead of covering too many places, you can cover Kochi, alleppey and spend your new years eve at Varkala.
Varkala has shacks along the cliff offering a beautiful view of the Arabian Sea. I stayed at hostels in Kochi, Alleppey and Varkala. Since you are doing solo travel hostels offer you best experiences :-)
