We want to visit Yosemite and/or Sequoia national forest between Christmas and New Yr, approx 3 to 4 days. Any recommendations on which park we should focus our time and what activities (med level hikers). Places to stay also appreciated, not luxury.

My suggestion would be to visit Yosemite National Park and hike the John Muir trail over the duration. The Pikes campground will serve as a great place to camp.
