I feel any place is best for the solo trip. As long as you are connected to the nature and can easily cope up with new guys. :)

I think If you wants to go for a solo trip then you should have a rider experince start your journey on a Royal Enfiend from Manali to ladakh and feel the nature by closing the eyes you always feel this trip ever. Thankyou

Pondichéry, Pushkar, Udaipur, Kasol are the ones I would recommend. Final choice will depend on what you would like to do. Pushkar gives a good melange is east and west. Udaipur has lots to offer to a tourist in terms of experiences. Pondichéry has beaches, churches, colonial vibes. Kasol will take you close to nature and chill

Try koh phangan during full moon party. Lots of cheap hotel/hostel stays. My recommendation is Vagabond Castle. https://www.facebook.com/vagabondcastle/
