Would suggest to use an international debit/credit card along with some cash separately.
get the currency exchanged at local registered forex shops instead of those available at the airports for better forex rate

As others mentioning, definitively any visa debit card you use in india. just ask your bank to enable for international use.

I would suggest to check with your bank. there are some options wherein u can get international cards which has very cheap withdrawal charges.. Some cards doesn't even charge for card swipe. Try SBI.. I used it for a year and no charges were taken for swipe.
