Whether it's a broken recliner, a non-functional entertainment screen, or the classic middle seat surprise when you booked a window, it happens more often than airlines would like to admit. What I usually do: Politely flag a crew member—they’re often super helpful and might move you to another available seat. If it’s minor (like a faulty tray table), just ask for assistance and work around it. For bigger issues (like someone else in your seat or an unusable seat you paid extra for), talk to the ground staff or gate agent before boarding if possible—they often have more flexibility to reassign seats.
