During the winters, Sikkim turns into a winter wonderland. The temperature can fall as low as 0 degree Celsius. If you enjoy snow and winter sports, winters can be the perfect time for you to explore Sikkim. You can explore the majestic Gurdongmar lake which offers the sight of snow-clad mountains and the crystal-clear lake during the winters. You can also visit Nathula Pass which is considered to be one of the highest mountains passes in the world and marvel at the snow-clad surroundings. You can also visit Yumthang Valley. Although the place is known for its flowers, the valley turns pearly white during the winters. Another popular tourist destination that should not be missed during the winters is Tsogmo Lake. The lake freezes during the winters, and you can enjoy the snowy surroundings.

Budget trip requires a little bit of planning beforehand. firstly, it's a good idea to plan ahead to get discounts in bus/train/ hotel booking. Secondly, traveling during the off season is a great way to avoid price surges and tourist crowd. Also, instead of booking a hotel beforehand I have found it better to first arrive at the location and look around for hotels or cottages. lastly, if trying the local cuisine is not big on the menu then you can always carry a kettle to boil your egg and make a sandwich on the go since food takes up a considerable amount in planning a trip.
Key points:
Synthetic /waterproof Track Pants (Do not bring shorts, tight jeans, Capri.) T-shirts 3 full sleeve. 1 Fleece jacket will be a good idea; a woolen sweater would be an alternative. 1 Windproof jacket. 1 Heavy jacket. Thermal Inners. 2 pairs cotton socks and 2 pairs woolen socks. 2 pair water proof hand gloves.
Yes you can. It is beautiful during those months there. It is also cold, so be ready for that. If you're just going to chill and admire the snow, Tosh is especially beautiful in December.
