It is one special kind of tourist visa that enables either transit through or an intended stay within the territory of the Schengen Member States for the duration of maximum 90 days (short stay) within a 180-day period. You can reach this hill station by rail or bus. You can fly to the Gaggal Airport in the Kangra district and take a taxi from there to reach McLeodganj that is 20 kilometers from the airport. You can take a direct bus from Delhi to Dharamshala or McLeodganj.
There are many budget lodges and hotels where you can stay at this hill station.
Food or drinks offered by locals in trains or buses might have sleeping pills in them. Do not accept them.
Do not take photographs of the locals without their permission.
Carry all the camping and trekking gear, and get warm clothes, socks, shoes etc.
