It's absolutely safe to travel to Kashmir in December as it is the beginning of the winter season. Do have a check on the weather before your start with sightseeing. Most of the roads will remain open in December and hence reaching to popular destination like Sonamarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam will not be a problem. You can spend two nights in Srinagar, two nights in Pahalgam and one night each in Sonamarg and Gulamarg or do day trips to these places.

But then also if you have crunch of time and can go only with limited time than plan as follows:- 1. Timing :- First the timing of your trip is most important and as spiti valley is accessible through high mountains and deep vallies which are usually can not travelled throughout the year so Best time to travel to Spiti valley is from Mid April to August but if one can avoid July month then its good as the heavy rains in the way can cause blockages midway but if you have one or two spare days with you then no problem. 2. Route:- There are two routes which one can adopt to travel Spiti Valley one is via Delhi-Chandigarh-Manali-Lossar-Kaza This route is bit not comfortable for them who are prone to motion and mountain sickness as this route has sharp increase in height along way second is Delhi-Chandigarh-shimla-Narkanda-Rampur-Reckong Peo-Chango-Kaza this route has gradual increament of height alongway As Spiti valley is at almost height of 3800 Meter approx. , so persons prone to Acute Mountain Sickness(AMS) must go for second route. 3. Road condition :- if you are going via second route than you will quite good roads till Rampur except some minor hitches, after Rampur till Kaza the road conditions are not good and you have to be very slow if going on personal vehicles or Bike.. Then come the worst and dangerous roads of the world from Kaza to Rohtang Pass on the return way to Manali and be assured that if you are coming by bus then be ready for rock n roll and if coming by personal vehicle or Bikes and driving than ready to be a perfect driver if you are and if not so good in driving then please these roads are not meant for you to drive and to exploit your skills here. Then from Manali to chandigarh roads are much comfortable except some loops. 4. Accomodation :- while going from chandigarh to shimla routes one can get accomodation per cheap prices to stay at Shimla, Theog,Narkanda, Rampur, Sangla/Chitkul, Kalpa, Reckong Peo,Spillow, Pooh, Nako, Tabo, Kaza, Lossar, Manali. Please be mentally aware that except Shimla, Rampur and Manali all other destinations are small in size and please dont expect five star facilities there. From Kaza to Manali once Lossar get crossed than till Manali, it is very tough to find a stay in between for this around 180 Kms and on the above the road to this distance is very dangerous and risky, except at Chandertaal where one can have their own camping arrangements. so its my humble advice to all that if anyone planning to travel from Kaza to Manali in one day then please either left Kaza as early as possible so that can cross dangerous strech atleast in daytime till Rohtang Pass and after that can easily approach to Manali or have campimg arrangements for Chandertaal and if not then one can find PWD Rest House at Batal and Gramphu/Chhatru but there is no surity that one will get room to stay there as rush is always there, but one can get a small Dhaba type in Chhatru where you can get Bed at 200 bucks to spend night. 5. Food:- one can easily get food throughout the route and there is not at all any problem for it but if anyone is highly choosy and expecting same foods which you can get in plain areas Dhabas and Hotels than i am sorry you are at wrong place and you will get food which can make you feed to stay healthy and alive but not as per your taste. But one can get Maggie, Egg items etc throughout the route. 6. Must Carry:- Temperature in mountains usually dips to sub zero or very low range at night time so one must have proper winter clothing with him while travelling and also rain wears are also must as rains are not frequent but expected anytime so one should have his /her arrangements. as medical facilities are very rare there from Rampur to kaza and Kaza to Manali so one must have atleast minimum required tablets/drugs with them such as pain relief, headache, cold and flu etc Finally the trip to Spiti valley is full of mesmirizing locations and scenes , attractions on the way, here are some pics for you to relate to and the most beautiful thing i noticed in this trip was that while on way from Shimla to Kaza then to Manali to Chandigarh you will go all along the riverside of river Satluj till Kaza and then will come back along river Beas. so please carry good quality camera and storage devices with you to store your memory forever. Note: if anyone want to have clear vision of starry nights than i dont think one will get better chances than this trip as from Kaza to Manali and in between there is Chandertaal and Dhatru where one can halt and have a glimpse of clear starry sky thank you have a nice trip

Chail can be visited throughout the year, however, summers from April to June are considered as the best time to visit Chail. The summers in Chail are enjoyable and windy with an extremely pleasant weather. The average temperature is around 20 degrees.

Better not to go to hill stations during monsoons..

In North East states you can find Local Culture, Cusinies, and much more. So in Arunachal you can go Tawang and Shillong is very beautiful city.

5-6 days are too less. This part of india involes too much road travel and roads are not in good condition
upvoteUpvotemessageComment
Of-course it is kind of risky. Though Annapurna or Everest base camp path is not closed but as I had conversations with lot of trekkers and guides when I was doing Everest base camp (this april)... all of them suggested NOT TO DO IT.
upvoteUpvotemessageComment
Yes , Because ABC trek is known for its beauty you get to see on the way this trek is not about summit but the journey as well so when it's cloudy you won't get that clear view of that huge magical beauty . I went to a trek last year and was unable to see anything on the main day due to heavy rain I had to return with disappointment. And yes it's not safe as well the trek can become more exauasting .

Hey Varsha. Yes, it's good to go if you can trek for 4 to 5 hours. Only thing to consider is that, they might provide a small camps with sleeping bag and not a lavish swiss camp that we get in Ladakh. Let me know if you need anythin else. 🙂
