Hello, An answer to this question would be definitely YES provided you are OK to experience some warm climate while exploring the valley (if you come from a metro city like Mumbai / Bangalore where we experience some very hot summers in the month of May). My preference would be visiting the valley in the month of June-July where the climate would be cool in comparison to the month of May and you also will be explore the valley comfortably as there will be no frozen roads.

Goa would be cheap and less crowded at that time but you won't get shacks for stay near beaches due to monsoon time. Days can be very hot and humid but then depends on your tolerance.
