Tucked away in the serene Baspa Valley, this quaint little town called Sangla, translated to "the valley of light" in Tibetan, is one of the most charming towns in the Kinnaur District. Magnificent panoramic views of the Himalayas, especially the Kinner Kailash peak, Baspa river, flowing through the valley, sprawling evergreen forests, makes Sangla a perfect escape.
Located at 8,900 Ft, Sangla is so famous that the Baspa valley is often called the Sangla Valley. Blessed with apple orchards, apricots, walnuts, cedar trees, glacial streams, Sangla will leave you enchanted with its natural beauty.

After crossing Narkanda and driving by the banks of the Sutlej river, we entered the Baspa Valley at Karcham. The road conditions from Karcham to Sangla stretch are a mix of good and dangerous, but the views are just awe-inspiring and make up for bad roads.
Finding a slice of heaven
There are many camping sites available in the Sangla region, and we opted to stay in Kinner camps which are around 20km away from Chitkul, the last village.
Driving along the Baspa river towards the Batseri, we reached a signboard that says Kinner camps which are around 700m downhill. The descend to Kinner camps could be slippery during rains. The parking space is available so you can park your vehicle down the hill.

Run by an avid traveller and efficiently managed by locals with a vision of ecotourism and the promotion of Kinnauri Culture, Kinner Camps is a perfect blend of comfort and charm in the middle of the Himalayas. Kinner camps welcome you with the misty mountains, whistling winds, birds humming, fluffy clouds wandering over the valley and mystic greenery soothing your eyes.
