Day 1: From Delhi to Shimla

Our epic adventure began in Delhi, where I boarded a comfortable Volvo semi-sleeper bus from Majnu Ka Tila. The journey through the night was smooth, and by morning, I found myself in Shimla, the gateway to the Himalayas. After checking into my hotel, I spent the day exploring Shimla on my own. The charming streets, colonial architecture, and vibrant local markets made for a delightful introduction to the high-altitude travel experience. The evening was spent relaxing in a quaint local café, soaking in the cool mountain air.

Day 2: Shimla to Sangla

The next morning, I joined fellow travelers in a 12-seater tempo traveler, setting off for Sangla. The journey was nothing short of spectacular. We passed through the mesmerizing Rock Tunnel, known as the Gateway of Kinnaur, and marveled at the cascading waterfalls and verdant apple orchards along the route. By evening, we reached the picturesque village of Sangla, nestled amid towering peaks. After a restful overnight stay, we were ready for the next leg of our journey.

Day 3: Sangla to Nako via Chitkul

We departed Sangla after breakfast and made our way to Chitkul, the last village on the Indian side of the Indo-Tibetan border. The village was a serene retreat with its traditional wooden houses and lush greenery. We visited the Chitkul Monastery and enjoyed refreshments at the Akhiri Dhabha, where the local hospitality was as warm as the tea.

Our journey continued towards Nako, with a scenic stop at Khab Sangam to witness the confluence of the Spiti and Sutlej rivers. Arriving in Nako, we explored the ancient Nako Monastery and took a leisurely stroll around Nako Lake. The evening was spent relaxing in our accommodations, reflecting on the day's explorations.

Day 4: Nako to Pin Valley via Gue Village, Tabo, and Dhankar

Day 4 began with a drive from Nako to the remote Pin Valley. Our route took us through Gue Village, where we marveled at the 500-year-old mummy of a Buddhist monk, a remarkable relic of ancient times. We continued to Tabo, home to the famous Tabo Monastery, known for its ancient murals and spiritual ambiance.

Next, we journeyed to Dhankar, where the monastery perched precariously on a cliff offered panoramic views of the Spiti Valley. The day concluded in the tranquil Mud Village in Pin Valley, where we settled into our accommodations, eager for the adventures that lay ahead.

Day 5: Pin Valley to Kaza - Kee Monastery, Kibber, and Chicham

After a hearty breakfast, we headed towards Kaza. Our first stop was Chicham, known for its impressive suspension bridge. Crossing the bridge was a thrilling experience, with stunning views of the rugged valley below.

We then visited Kee Monastery, an iconic Tibetan Buddhist site with its intricate murals and serene atmosphere. Our final stop for the day was Kibber, one of the highest inhabited villages in the world. The village’s remote charm and breathtaking landscapes were a fitting end to a day filled with spiritual and scenic wonders.

Day 6: Kaza to Chandratal via Kunzum La Pass

Day 6 was dedicated to exploring the enchanting Chandratal, or "Moon Lake." After a hearty breakfast in Kaza, we embarked on a 90-kilometer drive through the Spiti Valley. The route took us across Kunzum Pass, offering breathtaking views at an elevation of 4,590 meters.

Arriving at Chandratal, we were greeted by its shimmering blue waters and stunning mountain backdrop. The lake's serene beauty was a perfect contrast to the rugged landscapes we had traversed. We took leisurely walks along the lakeshore and captured the mesmerizing sunset, immersing ourselves in the tranquil ambiance of this high-altitude gem. A peaceful night under the stars in our tent capped off the day perfectly.

Day 7: Chandratal to Manali

After an early breakfast, we began our return journey to Manali. The drive back was filled with reflections on the incredible experiences and landscapes we had encountered. By evening, we arrived in Manali, a vibrant town nestled in the Beas River Valley.

The final evening was spent enjoying a farewell dinner with fellow travelers, recounting the highlights of our journey and preparing for our departure to Delhi later that night.
