Surya Mandir, Modhera- This is one of the 3 ancient Sun Temple in India.We visited Sun Temple on Uttarayan day .The Sun Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the solar deity Surya located at Modhera village of Mehsana district, Gujarat, India. It is situated on the bank of the river Pushpavati. It was built after 1026-27 CE during the reign of Bhima I of the Chaulukya dynasty. No worship is offered now and is protected monument maintained by Archaeological Survey of India.

Day 1

Getting There: 

Cab:  Best way to reach Sun temple is private cab from Ahmadabad, Gujarat. It is around 100 Km from Ahmadabad and takes 2 Hours by road. 

Bus: You can also take local bus however there is no direct bus connectivity.

Train: Nearest station is Mehsana. You will have to take rickshaw or local transport from station.

Best time to visit: Avoid the summers, or better go early morning or late evening during hot months.

Entry ticket :Rs 25 for Indian and Rs 300 for foreigners. No charge for camera. Note: Tripods are not allowed.
