This fort needs no introduction just as “Rajgad” doesn’t need. This fort, rises 820 metres (2,700 ft) above sea level, is located in the Sahyandri mountain range. There are approximately 1400–1450 steps leading to the fort, though today a rope-way exists to reach the top of the fort. We started our journey at around 4.00 A.M from Vashi and reached Chit Darwaja (Entrance Gate) at around 9.30 A.M. We decided to trek up way and take rope way for downward. We hired guide to explore the fort. As we started rain started pouring. there were two water falls on our way upward. Scenic Beauty, mesmerizing climate made our journey upward a memorable one! We reached a top at around 12 and the place was covered with Fog. It was raining heavily. We explored few points and ordered lunch to a local resident. We had our lunch at a small hut , a proper maharashtrian cuisine "Jhunka Bhakri" & Thecha. It was delicious and we thorogly enjoyed our meal. Due to heavy rains we got a set back. The rope way was closed. So we had no other option but to trek downward. It was still raining heavily and the waterfall in which we played during upward journey now were running frantically. We had to take help other fellow trekkers to cross the waterfall. After crossing that deadly waterfall we reached safely from where we started. Overall we had a thrilling experience. I would suggest to visit the fort during first week of June and not after that. Since throughout the rainy season it rains heavily there and the place can be dangerous. The tour cost us 550 including food excluding rope way. We were around a group of 24 people, hired private bus from vashi.
