We are always seeking for places which are far away from us and when we don't get a chance to visit them due to a number of circumstances, we get disheartened and post pone or even worse, cancel our travel plans. I was one of that person who had plans to go to far off places but when the plans got cancelled, I would just cancel everything and sit in my room. But then I realized something, and the Covid lockdown had a very big ole to play in this. When we stuck at home and inter state travel was banned , so anyway my Kashmir, Leh , Kerala, Pondicherry etc. travel plans went down the drain. But that is when I thought why not explore places in and around my city ! And boy it was a great decision. And this is the case usually, we just keep on dreaming of amazing destinations, which is perfectly alright. But in this process , we miss the amazing places which are so close to us and so spectacular that they sometimes beat even the most famous places in the country. I went to one such place, Chidya Bhadak Waterfall.

Day 1

It has a very unique name, which literally translates to "Angry Bird". It is a very beautiful and a pretty much untouched and unexplored location 55kms from Indore. It has got its name from a special set of rocks which form a shape of a birds head which looks angry , and thus the name. Our journey started with no plan in mind. We just set out in our car with no destination in mind. We drove as I searched on Google and this came up and instantly the plans were solid. We started following the the map and reached the destination. Not at all ! How can a journey in which I am involved be so easy and straight forward. The place where Google led us was kind of a dead end. First of all , about 1kms from the fall, the car could not go forward because of the red mud which was sticking onto the tier and was making it very slippery and dangerous. So we decided to complete the rest of the journey on foot. We started walking through the forest. It was beautiful but scary with the sounds of various birds and animals ringing in our ear. But eventually , the route which we were following led us to a dead end. We could see the river but it was down a steep slope which was impossible to trek. Confused, we looked around and luckily found a local Shepard who gave us an alternate route to the fall. So we got back into the car and followed the mans instructions. We were on the right route but again, another roadblock. After a point the cars were not allowed to travel. So we looked around, asked a few locals who were passing on their bikes. One of them was kind enough to give us a lift to the place. One thing which I have learned in these travel experiences is that without locals, these places would not be what they are today. They are the ones who maintain it, explore it and help people who wish to explore it. Anyways, we finally reached the waterfall and my oh my what a place it was. The first thing which you see is the reason for this fall's name. It actually looks like an "Angry Bird"(Pun Intended). But it was such a beautiful place that you get lost in the beauty of place instantly. Sound of the powerful force of water gushing down the stream, majestic red rocks covering the rocks on one side. The other side covered by lush green hills created a perfect colour contrast. And on the final side was the water body going and meeting the horizon. It was a sight worth experiencing. It was something that makes you feel so many emotions at the same time. You feel mesmerized by the beauty, you feel happy to see such beauty, you feel sad (in my case) that why you haven't been here before. But one particular emotion which I felt was being little. I felt so little amongst the forces of nature. They make you feel so small in front of their majestic structure. Still they let us live among them, which proves how humble they are. It is one place to visit if you are in and around Indore. It should definitely be on your itinerary coz the beauty of this amazing untouched marvel can only be experienced in person. If you don't believe me, see for yourself in the vlog. I somewhat tried to capture the essence of the beauty of this fall, but from what I saw in person, it was only 10 % . Enjoy !
