Rajasthan’s opulent capital is a magical land brimming with desert camps and lakeside palaces. Sitting on the edge of ...
We started at 10:30, my uncle and me after a scrumptious breakfast. We first took to the places where a traveller would go. The beautiful route had a cherry topping added to it with the stories my travel partner told me, he showed me the place where he camped in his school time and why the government banned the place.
The group at Amer Fort, Jaipur. Kicking off!
We took a Roadways bus, which took around 4.5 hours to reach and we were at the Jaipur Bus Stop at 12:30. While on our way, we had booked an online hotel, planned our day and made a rough itinerary for the trip.
Before leaving, we visited a local market, and tried and bought different kinds of namkeens or savory snacks. A visit to Jaipur is incomplete without trying its namkeens. The name 'Pink City' for this city is justified as not only its houses are painted in pink but also one receives a warm welcome.Note: There were 8 people in total. We booked 3 rooms in a budget hotel for 2 days and 1 night, and a traveler for to-and-fro and visiting locales. Shortage of pictures is because of lack of interest in photography then.
a. On reaching Jaipur, immediately went to cover the places on my list. I covered Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Amber Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Jantar Mantar, Jaigarh Fort, Jal Mahal, Birla temple and Chand Baori. All along I commuted through Metro or local bus. On finishing the tour, I went to catch the train to Delhi and then to Nagpur.
After exploring Pushkar enough, we took a train to the city of Forts, Jaipur. Again it was my second time in Jaipur but this time managed to explore more places which made me nostalgic all over again. That beauty of Hawa Mahal in the evening, magical Jantar mantar and range of forts made us wonder on how they created all these miracles.
PPS: We also rented activa for the city tour. It's one of the best way of exploring in the most original and beautiful way. Have a nice Jaipur trip!
#Jaipur, the pink city of beautiful state Rajasthan is a sign of magnificence and vividness. It is a first planned city of India and largest city of Rajasthan. However, state Rajasthan is a complete place for its visitors as the beauty and essence of rich traditional culture can be found in each and every corner of the state. But Jaipur established its recognition as a versatile tourist destination as it offers superb fortresses, serene temples, amazing havelis and royal palaces. Jaipur city has beautiful historical palaces and forts which gives the glimpse of old Indian Architecture design. Here I have listed some of the most important charms of Jaipur, that can’t be missed if visit jaipur.>>>Amer Fort: Amer Fort is one of the prime attractions of Jaipur and located 11 kilometers from Jaipur. This fort is also called as Amber Fort; a beautiful fort is well-known for its majestic surroundings and spectacular palaces. If you like to experience the Hindu and Muslim architecture together, then you would surely love it. The red sandstone and white marble pavilions are the most delightful experience of this fort.>>>Jaigarh Fort: This beautiful creation of Maharaja Jai Singh is just located at around 900 meters from the Amber Fort. This spectacular fort is standing on the hilltop so you can explore the entire city of Jaipur from its top. The panoramic views of the pink city can be best seen from this fort. Jaigarh Fort is also called as Victory Fort.>>>Hawa Mahal: This is a most important attraction of Jaipur, located on the southern part of the city. This amazing five storied building contains a well designed museum, depicting the past and present of Jaipur. The stunning Hawa Mahal can be best visited at the morning time when the golden rays of sun touches to it. Hawa Mahal is also known as the Palace of Winds.>>>Nahargarh Fort: This glorious fort is located on the edge of Aravalli Hills. Nahargarh depicts the royal legacy of Rajasthan. If you are a wildlife lover, then you must visit this place while touring Jaipur. It is believed that this fort was considered as a hunting residence of the kings.>>>Jantar Mantar: This is one of the most beautiful places of Jaipur, crafted with marble and local stone. Jantar Mantar is declared as a national monument where you can explore a vast collection of astronomical devices that help to foresee eclipse, find earth orbits, track stars and much more. After exploring these magnificent places, don’t forget to visit other beautiful charms of the city like City Palace, Jal Mahal, Albert Hall, Govind Devji Temple, Raj Mandir Cinema, Laxmi Narayan Temple and so on.#Nearby Places to visit:>>Bagru: This is just around 28 km away from Jaipur, located at the southern part of Jaipur. It is a good picnic spot for tourists.>>Samod: It is situated at the 40 km northwest of Jaipur. It is an old place where you can experience the great Rajput haveli architecture.Ranthambore and Sariska are the renowned wildlife sanctuaries situated near to Jaipur. All the nearby places can be easily reached from Jaipur either by bus or taxi.#Place to Stay in Jaipur:There are many option to stay in Jaipur, you can pick any of the option as per your budget. You can choose 5 star hotel, 4 star hotel, 3 star hotel, 2 star hotel, Budget hotel, Guesthouse, Apartment and so on. All the hotels are quite luxurious and provide all essential amenities, depending on their charges. The Raj Palace is a most luxurious 5 star hotel of Jaipur but quite expensive as well. If you can afford this, then you must stay over there to live royal life. Hotel Meghniwas, Clarks Amer, Hotel Bissau Palace, Dera Rawatsar, Saba Haveli, Hotel Om Tower, Hotel Mansingh, Mandawa Haveli, Jaipur Inn, and many more are the budgeted options to stay in Jaipur. My visit to Jaipur was amazing and I am sure you will also equally enjoy this place as I did. Make sure you don’t miss the must seen places of Jaipur. Shopping was the other most interesting part of my visit; in fact it was a real treat for me. There are many fabulous places that offer many high quality items. You can visit Anokhi, Kripal Kumbh, Art Chill, Gem Palace, and Hot Pink. These are the best places to shop. So, plan your trip to Jaipur and enjoy thoroughly. But yeah i would suggest you to stay at Zostel Jaipur. It's a nice and big property, beautiful location with everything just minutes away. The common room and everything are beautifully equipped and the best part is the kitchen and the coffee machine. Terrace is nice, but would have been nice if decorated like Rishikesh zostel.Zostel is India’s first chain of backpackers’ hostels. Hostels for travellers are a popular concept across Europe (not to be confused with school/college hostels). They are budget accommodations which are perfect for people travelling on a shoe-string budget. They go beyond accommodation and focus on travel as a lifestyle. Zostel is a facilitator that helps people gather new experiences and to #LiveItNow.PS: This is not an advertisement for Zostel. I just loved staying with them. Hence sharing the experience.
We boarded an overnight train from Bairagarh Raliway Station (near Bhopal) and reached Jaipur Railway Station by 9:30 am. The metro station is just nearby and we boarded the metro till Chandpole. We had a cup of tea just in front of the metro station and started searching for a room to freshen up. A cycle rickshaw driver took us to Simla Hotel which satisfied our needs as it was at a walkable distance from all the spots that we wanted to cover that day. We got two big rooms for quite reasonable price. After refreshing a bit, we entered into the sights of Jaipur. As soon as you will step into the streets of Jaipur, you will get to know why its called The Pink City. All the buildings across the street are painted in a terracotta “pink” colour which represents welcoming and hospitality. The paint was produced from a Calcium Oxide compound and is extremely durable in the arid conditions of Jaipur.
DAY 7 - JAIPUR - THE PINK CITY
Agra
180 Kms from Ghaziabad
Best time to visit - January,February,March,November,December
Home to the grandiose Taj Mahal, Agra’s city echoes of its bygone Mughal era days. Located in Uttar Pradesh, tourists ...
Well, my childhood dream came true. I visited the Taj Mahal. My sister booked a cab for our whole trip - to Delhi and Agra. So we got in the vehicle, took the National Highway, took some breaks in between, and along with some mild argument with a police officer, we are on our way again. (Miraculously, that Police Officer showed us the hotel where we can stay just next to the Taj Mahal). In the morning everybody dressed up, bought a ticket and went in. To tell the truth, that way the very first time I have found my dreams actually come true. From reading about the Taj in the textbooks to seeing it face to face is one of the most amazing moments of my life.
I thought, only I am excited to see the Agra fort, but saw dad walking fast to secure us entry passes. As soon as you enter the monumental doors of Agra fort, you are going have a war with local guides. Once you succeed in the negotiations, the journey inside begins.
The most popular weekend getaway from Delhi would have to be Agra. Within 200kms from Delhi, it takes less than 3 hours to reach Agra via Yamuna Expressway. While it may be famous for the Taj Mahal, it is also a great weekend destination away from the bustling city. If you are a history buff, this city will definitely catch your fancy.
It was 14th August , the day of the week when most of the people are hit with Monday Morning blues (sometimes I do too) and the next day being 15th August was holiday .As usual , I had nothing to do other than to lie on bed lazily the whole day . Suddenly it occured to me that I should visit Agra . I never have had any chance to visit Agra previously . Agra is just 230 kms from Gurgaon and around 4 hours drive . I geared up and quickly booked an Activa online for 2 days . I cost me 650/- INR excluding fuel . I left the office early and picked up my ride from Wheelstreet (online bike renting plattform) . I reached my place , took a quick shower , packed the necessary items for two days and started my solo - road trip to Agra . If you go on a bike , road trip do not forget your powerbank , face mask , driving gloves , and arm sleeves . One thing to note here that if you are going to Agra on a road trip on 2-wheelers , do not take the Yamuna Expressway . Instead opt for the Palwal highway which is pretty good .In my case , I did the same opted for the latter , which is comparatively safer . I left Gurgaon at 7.30 pm after having some evening snacks .Google Map was of great help and the connectivity throughout the journey was good.I had a pit stop at one of the dhabhas along the way . The food was yum and the price reasonable . I passed through the famous towns such Gokul , Vrindavan and Mathura . Even at around 12 o'clock at night , these towns were lively and jubiliant as the next day was Janmashmi . The celebrations of this festival was in full swing and most of the relevant shops were open . At around 1 AM , I was on my bed at my Hotel Room . I had not booked it earlier , so I had to pay a little extra which I regretted . After 4 hours drive , I needed rest and I dozed off as soon as I hit the bed .So friends please , book your rooms beforehand or be ready to make a good bargain .
Sharp a 2 hour journey and at 8, we got off at the Agra Cantt Railway Station and headed towards the hotel in our pre-booked vehicle.A quick check-in, we drop our luggage and move further to have the first WOW experience, it's the Agra fort. Beautiful architecture and amazing history, we see, click, listen, learn and come out full of stories and pictures.
If you have visited Taj Mahal a thousand times and have come to believe that that there's nothing more to discover, wait till you see Mehtab Bagh on a moonlit night. Tourist guides and popular travel books will rarely tell you about this hidden treasure of Agra, simply because it's difficult to locate among the winding by-lanes of the city. But once you find it, you get a chance to enjoy a panoramic view of Shah Jehan's beloved Taj Mahal.'Wah Taj!', you will say to yourself.
The trend of backpacker's hostels has finally come to India. And who's complaining. Zostels are like the travel hostels we have all seen in the movie Queen. Clean, cheap, centrally located and secure. In addition you get to meet loads of new people waiting to be your friends. Zostel is expanding rapidly by the day. Presently, there are around 20 Zostels in India and one in Nepal.Currently, Zostel is offering a volunteer Programme where you can be at their front desk. In return they offer you free accommodation. Cool, Isn't it.Volunteer to Travel :I have been a huge fan of long trips. I barely plan 2 day trips. Short trips are for tourists, vacations are for travelers. Don't get me wrong here. But how can you capture the essence of a place, visit the offbeat places, do what the locals do in 3 days. You barely have time to rush to all the touristy places. Isliye, I volunteer. This provides you a change to contribute in your own little way during traveling and gives you an immense sense of satisfaction. Here are few of my favorite volunteer organisations:
We reached Agra in the afternoon and my itinerary is as follows..Day: 1Inclusions: Agra fort and Taj Mahal (night view)

An unforgettable story of ‘three friends’ aka ‘3 Idiots’ is one of the reasons why Pangong lake in Ladakh is so famous today. The number of tourists visiting this lake has almost grown more than double after release of this movie. This lake is definitely not a thing to miss, but beware of the fragile ecosystem of this beautiful cold dessert and don’t litter around. And who can forget the beautiful ‘mall road’ and church of Shimla shown in this movie.
Read the Previous PartIt was time for moving ourselves to our next destination - Manali - the adobe of Manu. If Hindu mythology is believed - Manali is where Human Life was recreated after the great flood. Keeping the mythology aside, one great fact about Manali is that the most important fruit in humankind - Apple - was introduced to this country here by the British. The most delicious apple in the country is still cultivated here and supplied worldwide.
With a break for Manali and Rohtang in between, we stayed in Shimla for Three Days. Even though it was evening and the sun was down, we decided to go out and start our quest for Himachali Food. We took a quick shower, readied our son and went out. We decided to have dinner outside and return. We took the HPTDC lift which was within 500 meters from our hotel to reach the Mall Road. It is an excellent facility which takes the visitors straight up to the ridge and reduces the walking distance completely. It takes Rs. 10/- to go up and we were there on the Mall road in no time. The Evening was spent moving around the Upper Bazar and Lower Bazar. I had to buy a guide map and my wife went on to shop e few winterwear for the baby. We had our dinner at the Sher-e-Punjab (Regd.) Restaurant and had extremely delicious Punjabi delicacy.
Read the previous partFinally, we reached Shimla, the queen of Himalaya and the Capital of Himachal Pradesh, the Northern State of India. Even before the Narrow Guage train entered the station we were mesmerized by the fantastic view of the city spread on the slopes of the hill. The Huge Red coloured Idol of Hanuman, the Monkey God, at the highest point of the city was like a shining stone on the crown. The railway Station was neat and well organized.
Place 2: Chandigarh : Shimla : Day1I left for the place all alone on some work basis. I found myself a descent room to stay and lately went to Mehli Gaon. The Ridge: A place on top of Shimla hill. Its a market place, where you can find almost everything you want.
Shimla, the very name transports you into a dream where you're walking along the ridge with candy floss in your hand and the sun shining upon you through the icy cold breeze. I give you the perfect excuse to visit the city and live this reality as Shimla welcomes summer with the Shimla Summer Festival this June.
The driver arrived with the first rays of sun, if anyone wants to travel using public transport the options are available for that, you can get a direct bus from Delhi to Sangla or Delhi to Reckong Peo, if you don’t want to do the direct journey you can do it in breaks from Delhi to Shimla (Rs.420) and then Shimla to Reckong Peo (Rs.500).So I began the journey from Shimla, first stop was at Kufri for breakfast, the cascading of the mountains was penetrating the darkness with gleaming tops in orange shade. After briefly stopping at Kufri, the next destination was Narkanda, a quiet scenic town a perfect getaway from Delhi. The drive to Hatu peak from Narkanda was on a narrow road, with a steep ascent, after driving for another 30 minutes you reach the top, and the view is marvellous, endless mountains with a 360 degree snow-capped Himalayan view. I visited the temple at the top, a perfect example of the wooden architecture that is famous in this part of Himachal Pradesh.
Day 2I took the toy train from Kalka to Shimla. Even though this takes longer to reach than by road, this is probably the better way to reach Shimla, thanks to the experience. After reaching Shimla in the evening, I just took a walk to my hotel from the station and checked in.
The Ridge, I saw the beautiful scenery their and it was worth watching I enjoyed a lot, people were dancing with happiness. This was the beginning of celebrations
Chandigarh
240 Kms from Ghaziabad
Best time to visit - August,September,October,November
Chandigarh is India's first planned city, quite distinct from the rest of the country and considerably better organized....
We boarded our train to Chandigarh on 9th June and then on 10th we took a taxi till Kasol. As we were on our way, we were already occupied with the ravishing view of the Parvati River. It felt as if we were not following the road instead we were running from our bustling lives to seek peace in the lapse of nature.
Manali, it was started like "fer ki dikkat h"(He (The conductor) referred it to the girl sitting nearby :D) when I asked for ticket to Manali from the conductor.Manali is a hill station nestled in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley, at an altitude of 2,050 meters in the Beas River Valley. It is located in the Kullu district, about 270 km (168 mi) north of the state capital, Shimla. It is the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and from there over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim Basin. It has become a tourist attraction in recent years.
We reached our friend's around 11 p.m. , ordered dinner and celebrated our spontaneous small trip's success with a local alcohol my friend had gotten from somewhere in Punjab. It was made from sugar/sugarcane. We slept goooood!
We started our journey from Chandigarh. We rented a car for 3 days.We were total five friends. We began our journey around 11 pm from Chandigarh. We had our dinner in a restaurant near the highway. Then we covered around 300 Km till Manali and reached there in the morning. We had Tea and Snacks then we continued our journey to Prashar lake,Which is around 100 kms from Manali.
The first thought that strikes you about Spiti is that it is not for the average tourist. The land of surrealism promises amazing adventures -- but only for those who have an adventurous streak in them. After all, “the traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see.”
Our night started off with dancing in the room and playing beer and wine pong. Yes, wine pong. Not a great idea indeed. For food we got some pizzas and pastas parcelled for our mini house party. Hyatt is a good property in general but with a not-so-good room service. We were locked out of one room for almost 2 hours and the staff didn’t bother helping us unless one of us went all the way down to the reception. Overall, it was a good refreshing start to the long journey we were on.
Reached chandigarh airport at 230 pm. Huge temperature transformation from cool to hot and humid!!!Had lunch at the airport canteen. It was a tiring day as we moved from 8 K ft to 0 ft || cool to hot-Humid. Chandigarh is a well-planned city , acting captial of both the states – Punjab and Haryana and an Union-Territory too!!Checked in, boarded at 6 pm for Mumbai. Reached Mumbai at 8:30 PM and finally the trip came to an end. Reached home at 1 AM.———-•———————————————•———Time to visit - Mid-May until OctoberApprox budget - ₹ 30K inclusive of airtravel If go by tour - it varies from ₹ 40K onwards
We have started journey from Chandigarh to Delhi and heading heavy rainfall around 3 hours.heading up towards Delhi from Chandigarh, had been driving in heavy rainfall and blowing parking lights on the road and following the traffic rules, didn't over take any car.
Day 13 : 29th June 2017 -- Day 16th : 2nd July 2017 -Rode till Bilaspur all together, a fun ride, ghats, the Mandi tunnel of 3km.
So now, after dragging through Manali City till Mandi, we had light Dinner at around Midnight at a Dhaba of Day 8-Day 9, our Driver Virendra took some "Herbal Medicine" to stay awake all night so that he can drive, the reason we were going to Chandigarh was Virendra had to go to his home town in Jalandhar and Chandigarh would come in between so that is why, and then we marched there in our 4x4 Toyota Innova with speed not less than eighty at any point of time, in five hours we covered three hundred and fifty Kilometers and we were at Chandigarh, it was 6'O clock in the morning, we thanked Virendra for the awesome driving and his time, bid farewell to him, we weren't sleepy at all as we did slept for four hours in the cab, so we all decided to take a bus back to Delhi then and there, the ticket was of five-hundred and fifty rupees, and again in next four hours in the afternoon when we were in Delhi, we all were feeling the heat, we all were tanned, we all were full of contentment and emotions, we all smiled at each other saying this is not the end, we are again having this kind of adventure, and we four parted in our ways. it was heart throbbing. Finally i got back home Late Afternoon. :)

Located in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, Nainital is one of the most beautiful hill stations in Northern India. The ...
During 2012, it was an October evening when I got a call from my friend who was then posted in Rohtak, a small town of Haryana asking about my plans for the coming weekend. I had none, so he expressed that he would be getting bored at his house so I suggested him to come down to my place in Delhi which he felt as a usual boring stuff and proposed me his new plan to explore a new destination. We hunted on internet for some hours and then mutually locked an Uttarakhand based hill station in Kumaon foothills of Outer Himalayas i.e. Nainital. Within no time we booked train tickets on internet from Old Delhi to Kathgodam as it was the closest destination to reach Nainital since there were no trains till Nainital. Also during those days there were no such options to book hotels via apps or online methods so basically we had no plans after reaching the last station.
We boarded the train from Old Delhi railway station which is easily accessible from Chandni Chowk Metro Station by around 09:30 p.m. and reached Kathgodam railway station by around 05:00 a.m. the very next morning. Since it was the arrival of winters so the sky was covered with darkness and streets brightening with road lights but the station was full with private vehicles and passengers going to Nainital. Almost all of the cars and taxis were filled with couples. Since they wanted privacy so we had to back off but there was one car in which the couple was local to that place and they had to get midway so we got a chance to board it.After dropping our co-passengers, the driver was inquisitive to know our plans about Nainital i.e. stay and travel so as we had no strategic plans so he suggested us with one. For the first time we didn’t book any hotel as the hired car acted so where we relaxed until reaching the starting point of our main journey and also changed our attire.Within the next 4 hours we covered the below points starting and ending our journey with the beautiful Naini Lake and adjacent to it the Naina Devi Temple (one of the 52 ShaktiPeeth) via Mall Road :-• Naini Peak• Tiffin Top• Snow View Point• Gurney House• Cave GardenWe could not cover “Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo” due to lack of time.Few beautiful places near to Nainital are Saat Tal, Bhim Tal, Nauchuchiya Tal, and Mukteshwar which may need some more days to be explored in detail. After completing our trip we were dropped to Mall road where we explored the shopping area which were narrow and hyped street markets and also had our breakfast and lunch as there were a lot of food joints so we tasted a variety of them in Mall Road itself. In the afternoon we boarded a bus to “Haldwani”, one of the nearest towns to Nainital from where we to took another bus to Delhi by around 05:00 p.m. So by this way we completed our trip within one day without reserving a hotel.Nainital Itinerary :-Day 1 – If you arrive early morning, you can plan outing for complete day and cover the above mentioned points after taking a few hours rest. You can head off to the picturesque locations in Nainital, whether Snow Top or Tiffin Top, which is connected to the main town by cable cars. In the evening, you can drop in at Tibetan Market or Mall Road to acquire some shopping experience.Day 2 – Start with the holy blessings from Naina Devi, a Shakti Peeth which is on Mall Road and barely 1.8 km. from the main town of Nainital. Then, you can visit the Naini Zoo which sports a rich collection of flora and fauna. You can also enjoy the Naini lake boat ride as well. If you're a boating freak, the best time to visit Naini Lake is from 16:00 onwards.Day 3 – You can try on some trekking and other adventure sports as well.Do carry warm clothes and gloves irrespective of whichever season you are planning to visit.View of Himalayan Range is mystic so don’t miss out on that !!!
While this city has a lot to offer in food, culture and fashion, repeating the same things over and over again can become really tiresome, really fast. I was starting to feel stagnated, spending much of my free time at home, away from the city’s stimuli I was oh-so-familiar with. I needed to get out of the house, see some things I hadn’t seen before, and shake off my inertia. So without thinking too much, I planned a quick getaway to Nainital, a perfect getaway that was far away from the city chaos and close to the solace found in the nature. So get out your cameras, book a bus and head here right away.
NAINITALOur Mahindra Bolero reached Tallital KMVN Tourist Rest House (TRH), Nainital at around 5.30 in the evening. We got off the car and were instantly greeted by shivering cold. Standing on the edge of the vast green pristine Naini Lake, I forgot about clicking any photo what so over.We headed straight to Tallital KMVN TRH reception and then to our rooms - which we managed to pre-book four months in advance ,from KMVN Tourist office, Kolkata. After checking in, I spontaneously reached out for my camera (my 4 year old friend, a Nikon Coolpix P510) and went on to explore the view from the balcony.
2. The multi-cuisinesBeing the major tourist destination, Nainital is the perfect spot for food. Get the taste of authentic Pahadi food, the exotic Italian and Chinese cuisines too. Momos and Thukpas come under the famous food in Nainital, that you can get from any eatery. But don’t forget to taste the traditional sweet, the Bal Meethai. The soft and chocolaty sweet is famous in the entire Kumaun region. Don't forget to visit the Maggie point.
We took the route via Nainital to reach Ranikhet.. We stopped for some photography here..
After passing by Nainital, Bhimtal once you cover most of the distance, you will reach someshwar valley where you will find highly fertile ground with farms, hard working people growing their crops.
Day 12We took a walk a around the lake. Then took Rope Way to Snow view point, but could not see anything from there for fog. Then we went to Cave gardens, but cave were all closed for rain. By afternoon we started for Agra.
Day 11We came to Nainital in morning. After some walk beside the lake we found a hotel. But rain started, which mostly ruined rest of the day. At night I took a walk in the city. City looked quite great at night with the lake and all the lights over hills.

Day 5: Mussoorie - The queen of hillsBy night fall I boarded a bus to Mussoorie which in itself is a great task. The bus stand is near the railway station opposite to the pre-paid taxi stand. One has to wait for hours in the ticket line. Tickets are distributed only after the bus arrives at the stand. 30kms distance to Mussoorie easily takes 2 hours. During winter Mussoorie is bustling with tourists and finding any on spot accommodation is quite difficult. Wanting to stay away from the crowded areas I booked a hotel at the Landour bazar road.Along with the regular places to visit one can take a walk at the 2 km stretch of Mall road, watch the sun set behind the hills casting its hue on Mussoorie, witness the moon rise over the sparkling Dehradun, shop endlessly in Mall road, eat the famous aloo parantha from Funjabi Food, must gulp the masala orange juice and lay back on those benches and observe the city.Places to visit: Lal tibba, Kempty falls, Gun hill, Cloud's end, Camels back road, Jharipani falls, Bhatta falls, Company garden.
Clock Tower Cafe - Located uphill from Kulri Bazaar, located near the clock tower at Landour, the cafe-restaurant is colorfully decorated with posters, magazines and books as well as a live see-through kitchen. The momos here are a must-try. The place primarily serves Chinese though they do whip up pastas and pizzas as well.
After experiencing the tranquility of Nahan, we continued with our journey to Mussoorie. The scenery showed us the bright lemon yellow plains contrasting with the viridescent faces of bewitching hillocks.
6000ft | 9°CI happened to have travelled 2500kms from Bangalore, all the way to Dehradun. And, these last 220kms to Sankri was the most thrilling and at the same time appealing.
On 1st Jan. 2017, we reported at the YHAI Mussoorie Hostel in the evening. There we met the entire group of around 50 people. We were oriented about the trek and things to remember. On 2nd January, we travelled by bus to Sankri Village in Uttrakhand from Mussorie. The drive is a delightful one as the path takes you along the Yamuna and pine forests.
#TripotoTakeMeToHimalayasMussoorie is just 40 minutes away from Dehradun. It is a very popular travel destination and there are a lot of activities like paragliding. It also has many cafes and a beautiful mountain view all around it. When I think of Mussoorie, it is impossible to actually choose a place because there are so many mountains and so many different places to stay at. With AirBNB coming out, I guess AirBNB houses are the best to stay at because they are so well furnished with a lot of different amenities and are not even half as costly at hotels.
On day 2 we had planned to visit mussoorie particularly the Kempty fall.We left the hotel early morning and started our journey towards Kempty fall which is almost 40Km from Dehradun. After having some breakfast at the road side outlets we further resumed our journey to Kempty fall.On the way to Kempty the natural beauty was awesome and mindblowing.
First Time Lapse
Rishikesh
186 Kms from Ghaziabad
Best time to visit - March,April,September,October,November
Rishikesh is a small town in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India. Scenically located where the Ganges River comes...
We stayed in Rishikesh the next.
He wanted to go for white water river rafting, it was all that we heard as we approached Rishikesh. In the end, sanity prevailed.
India is the birthplace of yoga. From developing this art and making it global, India as a country has always been at the forefront. And in the entire country, Rishikesh is unarguably the yoga capital, of not only India but the world. It is one city in the world where multiple yoga ashrams exist in every corner and alley. The home of ancient yogis, sages and seers, Rishikesh has been spearheading the development and spread of yoga throughout the world. People from as far as South America, and from as close as Nepal, visit Rishikesh to learn this art form.
Day 2: Rishikesh - The yoga capital20 kms from Haridwar is the 'Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas'. One can take a local bus from Haridwar, it takes about one hour or less to Rishikesh. This is a place I want to live in and experience nevertheless when ever I can, I do visit the yoga land. One can live in hostels, attend yoga classes, practice meditation and do so much more. After experiencing Ganga Aarti in Haridwar, I wanted to witness the same in Rishikesh. Triveni ghat at dusk is mesmerizing, the setting sun across Ganges, pandits getting ready for the aarti, kids collecting coins thrown into the river by the devotees, families performing rituals are just some things one gets to notice as a bystander.Places to visit: Triveni Ghat, Jumpin Heights for bungee jumping, river rafting, Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula, the Beatles Ashram, Swarg Ashram, Shivpuri(famous for adventure sports).
It’s the little things after all which leave a dent in your mind. This cookie Maker guy- Gautam, has set up his own “Bakery On wheels”! Yes, and it’s not a food truck or Van with all modern baking amenities. He’s created a unique oven from tin and bakes “Wood fired Cookies” in those.Baking sumptuous Cookies in three flavors, the butter cookies won me over! Flaky, Melt in mouth, moderately sweet and buttery- Too perfect for a street delicacy! I got almost a pound packed as souvenirs for friends and I ended up eating it all during the week-long trip! :p
DAY 2 : We left for Rishikesh, apart from rafting and cliff jumping there is much to explore in peace and beauty.Place has its owned popularity for meditation and Yoga which is being followed since decades. The most popular band "The Beatles", king of rock and retro music in late and early 90's visited the place in search of peace which made the place a tourist spot for music lovers. In memory of the famous band, the natives had named their cafe's as "The Beatles Cafe" which, rather the only cafe which that band went to was a mystery to us. We spent two nights at some government quarters at Rishikesh, as my friend was working in Chief Minister office, Dehradun.Aanother day we went to "Little Buddha Cafe", a not so quiet but a decent place to sit and enjoy whole day with dope and music. The cafe is known to be as a second home for foreigners, where they dope and rest at peace in melancholic music. One might face discrimination here as an Indian, they don't entertain Indians the way they care for foreigners.
Rishikhesh is amongst my most preferred destinations for relaxation and my love for Yoga further adds to its charm.
You know how there is always that one person who's always planning a trip and almost always failing to gather enough people to go forward with it? Well this time around this dog finally had his day. By the way, this dog is not me. Moving on, nevertheless.ISBT, ISBT, ISBT! Kashmiri Gate, Kashmiri Gate, Kashmiri Gate! Bus, bus, bus! *sigh* now let's go and get ourselves a bottle of water for the ride (Isn't that how it always goes?)Fast-forwarding through the 7 hour over-night bus ride and the little insignificant dhaba stopover where everyone is groggy from not sleeping yet sleeping with their eyes open. And of course, their toilets. The only reason the driver really makes the pit-stop. Let's face it.Finally! We arrive at Rishikesh. And there lay, a few hundred metres in front of us, the river Ganga. Or Ganges as it's known. Making its way from Gangotri, pit-stopping (or rather waving at us and carrying on towards the Sundarban Delta) at Rishikesh where it fills its pockets with gold and diamond and ruby and all the tears that come with it. And on it goes. And it keeps going till that moment that its one with the ocean. Kinda like life if you think about it.Emerging from our near hangover like state we entered Amrit Ganga Cafe in hopes of finding some good food. And good food we got. Kafuli, Gahat ke paranthe and Kumaoni raita to top it off. It was the best cure to our sluggish morning and we could finally completely appreciate the freshness of the air, the enormity of the river Ganga and the daily worship that followed with it.After sifting through an endless line of cabs we came across one fairly reasonable. Onward we go, towards a supposed 'surprise'.On our way, every time I looked out of our cab all I saw were river banks and camp sites. River banks, camp sights, river banks, camp sights, river sights, camp banks. How I wished we could go camping.Going down a steep road we started steering towards a little camp site ourselves. Could this be? I've never been camping before but could this.."Oh boy!" Serendipitously, I found the little kid in me again.
So Next day we all woke up with our freaking dreams of Rope getting cut during Bunjee and all finally headed to nature walk which the camp had arranged us .Then finally we had breakfast packed our bags and got ready for bunjee .Bunjee timing -9.39am-4pm.Please plan early as it depends how many people are in queue for this activity. We had booked a cab this day as we had to visit bunjee and also we had to reach rishikesh .This cab we bargained for 2000 deal was to drop us at Railway station , also to cover any place on the way.We reached Jumping heights and twice we used restrooms .And since there was a queue we planned to do flying fox and did this .Flying fox 1800+bunjee 3500+750 for video .
