In the heart of Belgium, there is a charming little town called Dinant. It is a town filled with stunning castles, breathtaking views, and rich history waiting to be explored. I and Satyam had heard so much about this hidden gem and decided to pack our bags and embark on an adventure to explore this hidden gem.
We arrived in Dinant early in the morning, eager to start our adventure. Our first stop was the Citadel, perched high on a hill overlooking the town. As we climbed the winding staircases, we were rewarded with stunning views of the Meuse River and the surrounding countryside.
Next, we visited the Notre Dame Cathedral, located in the heart of the town. We were immediately struck by the cathedral's stunning Gothic architecture and intricate stained glass windows. The cathedral's peaceful atmosphere provided a welcome respite from the bustling town outside.
As we strolled through the town, we crossed the Charles de Gaulle Bridge, a symbol of the town's resilience and perseverance after it was destroyed during World War II. The bridge offered stunning views of the town and the surrounding landscape, and we took a moment to reflect on the town's history and the strength of its people.
Our next stop was the Maison de Monsieur Sax, a museum dedicated to the inventor of the saxophone, Adolphe Sax. We learned about the history of the instrument and its impact on the music world.
As we continued our adventure, we visited not one, but three stunning castles - Veves Castle, Walzin Castle, and Fryer Castle. Each castle had its own unique story and architecture, from the medieval Veves Castle to the romantic Walzin Castle perched on a rocky cliff. We felt like royalty as we explored the castles' grand halls and breathtaking views.
As the sun began to set, we sat by the river, watching the reflections of the town's lights dance on the water. We reflected on our incredible day of exploration and marveled at the beauty of this hidden gem.
Dinant had captured our hearts with its stunning scenery, rich history, and warm hospitality. We left with a newfound appreciation for this charming town and vowed to return one day to continue our adventure.
Bonus: Just 20 mins out of Dinant en route to Brussels we came across another beautiful castle: Crupet!
